Transmission of Genital Warts

How genital warts disease is being transmitted? Can we do something to avoid ease transmission of genital warts? What are genital warts exactly? You are not alone looking answers to these questions.

Genital warts infection does not happen to everyone but the probability of acquiring such disease should not be taken for granted.

What are Genital Warts?

Genital warts, or usually known as venereal warts or condyloma, are eruptions on the skin in the genital area, caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). They are not a pretty sight since they look like little red bumps growing in cauliflower – like clusters.

Genital warts occur in both men and women but record says the incidence among men is lesser than those of women. The main reason is that the female anatomy provides more open and conducive entrance for a virus transmission. Men may not actually suffer from genital warts, but can be carriers of the HPV once exposed to the said virus.

Am I Infected by Genital Warts?

We can not easily determine if a person carries genital warts or not. They are not easily seen because they usually grow in areas of your vagina and anus but they can be easily felt. Once you are infected, you may or may not have genital warts symptoms.

There could be no manifestation of genital warts in the first period of transmission. Sometimes, it takes a year or more to discover that one acquired the said HPV. It is because of the ability of the deadly virus to remain latent for a long period of time we could least expect. It may be because of physiological differences among people that HPV is sometimes easily to be detected, and sometimes they are not.

Transmission of Genital Warts

The transmission usually takes place through an intimate physical contact so safe sexual practices are recommended. Use condom even if you don’t see any symptom that your partner is infected. Experts recommended latex rather than animal-membrane condoms. This is to minimize the exposure to transmission of the viruses that will lead to genital warts.

Not only intimate physical contact will lead you to exposure of HPV, there are also some things that you may consider for a better understanding of its transmission. It may happen even by close contact to objects that are exposed to the infected person. Be careful and stick with your trusted medical practitioners since improperly cleaned medical equipment used on an infected person may transmit the virus to you.

If you have an outbreak of genital warts, do not scratch, pick and touch the warts to reduce the chances of spreading genital warts by hand.

There are also some cases that newborn babies were transmitted by genital warts. They were infected by their mothers and get the warts in the mouth and throat as those mentioned areas were conducive for the rapid growth of the virus.

How Serious Genital Warts Can Be?

Genital warts can become very unsightly and affect your quality of life in various ways. The worse scenario here is that these genital warts are deadly.

That is why genital warts treatment is so important. It is said that even after removal and treatment of genital warts, the virus still remains beneath the surface of the infected area and ready to emerge again after quite sometime. What is worse is that it is not a mere irritation but can be deadly too since it could be developed into a cervical cancer among women.

Amidst everything, healthy lifestyle is the best way to stop the transmission of HPV leading to genital warts. Surely, you wouldn’t want to be infected and pass the virus to your loved ones on the process.
